On Friday, April 25, John David Dodd of Midlothian, surrendered his 15-year battle with cancer. He was 52 years old.
John was born on April 27, 1961, in Cleburne. He grew up in Midlothian, where he graduated from high school in 1979, and would settle in to raise his family. He worked for TXI for nearly 30 years where he made life-long friends and was loved and respected by so many. He was a member of the Venus Church of Christ for more than 30 years. John David’s passions were God, his family, his friends, and playing his fiddle.
David and his wife, Linda, participated in many jams at Pearl over the years and the Pearl audiences very much enjoyed his performances there with Ellis County Bluegrass. They have many Pearl friends who will miss David's fiddling and his friendship.
John David is survived by his wife, Linda Kaye Dodd; daughter, Tracy L’Shay Dodd; daughter, Stacy D’Shay Clark and husband Chris; son, Rusty Wayne Minter and wife Wintress; son, Dusty Lee Minter and wife, Shannon. He is also survived by grandchildren, Whitley Morris and husband Donnie; Corp. John Minter USMC, Dustin Minter, Taylor Minter, Taylor Shaw, Haven Minter, Payten Minter, Daiden Minter, Jayden Clark and Presley Clark; and two great-granddaughters Hadley and Heartly Morris. John David is also survived by his parents, John Alton and Nelda Jane Dodd; Teresa Adair and husband Phillip, along with numerous niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Perry and Lillian Sain, and William and Matilda Dodd.
