Dorothy Mae Dunn Mitchell, 89, died May 1, 2011, at the Comanche hospital. Graveside services were held at the Hillsdale Cemetery near Izoro, Texas. Visitation was held at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
Mrs. Mitchell was born on Feb. 18, 1922, in Evant, the daughter of Henry Green and Susie Elmina Moore Dunn.
Dorothy regularly attended the monthly Pearl Bluegrass stage show with her son Doyle and daughter Pat often arriving early and staying until the last band finished playing. Dorothy always talked about how much she loved music and said that if she could play an instrument herself she was afraid she wouldn't do anything else! Dorothy also enjoyed attending church services.
Survivors include a sister, Marie Banks; three sons, Bill Gandy and wife, Sue, Earl Gandy and wife, Sharon, and Doyle Wayne Littlefield; one daughter, Patricia Shook and husband, Jerry; 10 grandchildren, Billy Gandy, Deanne Shultz, Melinda Villalobos, Alicia Gonzales, Stacy Stone, Bill Green, Karen Larkins, Kathy Harvey, Stacy Stockman and Tracy Stockman; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Frank Gandy, A.J. Littlefield and Jay Mitchell; and a daughter, Joyce Marie Littlefield.
