Glen Manning - (1932-2008)
(1932 – 2008)
Glenn grew up and went to school in the Pearl community. Glen met his wife to be, Antha Smith, when they were children. They started their life of singing and playing guitars together as teenagers and married in 1951. They settled in Killeen where he was a custom homebuilder. Glen was employed with Killeen Independent School District as a builder and retired in 1996. He was a self-taught guitarist and had his own unique style of guitar picking.
Glen and Antha played and sang together at church, the monthly Pearl Bluegrass gatherings and at various other places. They passed their love of singing and performing to their children and grandchildren. Glen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a man of few words but when he spoke, it was always something worth hearing. Along with music, he enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Glen was a member of the Pearl Church of Christ, but worshipped with his wife, Antha, at Pidcoke Baptist Church.
